Present tense conjugation -ar verb

Some of us may not like to conjugate verbs, but it's something we must do in the Spanish language. We must do this so we can say how people and things "do" things.

Nosotros/as
-amos

-as
Vosotros/as
-áis
Ella/Eĺ/Ud.
-a
Ellas/El/Uds.
-an


Now lets see some examples on how to conjugate -ar verbs.

1) Estudiar: this means to study.
Now that we have our verb, we must take the -ar off of the verb so we get the root of our verb.
If we take -ar off this verb we get our root verb: Estudi.
So now that we have our root verb we must add the endings.
Estudi is the root of the verb.
Here are the present tense forms of the verb:


Yo: -o
Estudi+o= Estudio
Estudio means: I study.
Nosotros/as: -amos
Estudi+amos= Estudiamos
Estudiamos means: We study.
Tú: -as
Estudi+as= Estudias
Estudias means: You study.
Vosotros/as: -áis
Estudi+áis= Estudiáis
Estudiáis means: You all (informal) study.
Ella/Eĺ/Ud: -a
Estudi+a= Estudia
Estudia means: She studies/He studies/You(formal) study.
Ellas/ Ellos/Uds: -an
Estudi+an= Estudian
Estudian means: They study/You all(formal) study.

Now lets try another example on how to conjugate -ar verbs:

2) Descansar this means: to rest
Now that we have our verb, we have to take the -ar off to get the root of the verb.
If we take -ar off this verb we get the root of the verb: Descans.
So now that we have the root of the verb we must add the endings.

Descans is the root of the verb.
Here are the present tense forms of the verb:

Yo: -o
Descans+o= Descanso
Descanso means: I rest.
Nosotros/as: -amos
Descans+amos= Descansamos
Descansamos means: We rest.
Tú: -as
Descans+as= Descansas
Descansas means: You study.
Vosotros/as: -áis
Descans+áis= Descansáis
Descansáis means: You all (informal) rest.
Ella/Eĺ/Ud: -a
Descans+a= Descansa
Descansa means: She studies/He studies/You(formal) study.
Ellas/Ellos/Uds: -an
Descans+an= Descansan
Descansan means: They study/You all (formal) study.
Directions: Talk about what each person in the picture does by using the correct -ar ending verbs and conjugating it. Remember, the endings for -ar ending verbs are the following:
